This
student chose a laundrymat as her site and the repeated behavior
of removing clothes from a washing machine, walking with them to the
other side of the room and placing them in a dryer. The student identified
that a specific social pattern, of young singles meeting, took place
in this
Laundrymat. She proposed a system, using soft conveyor belts, for transferring
and mixing the clothing – creating an opportunity for people
to meet through sorting mixed laundry.
