Student Mijeong Lee developed
a process for transferring images onto cement. Concerned with how
Australia deals with refugee children, she used t images
of babies. She originally proposed tiling the entire foyer of ACCA
with her hand made tiles.
Student Adam Paikos assisted chef George Calombaris
to develop a menu for the evening. Working from his kitchen, LAB,
Calombaris developed a number of sample dishes prepared with his
molecular gastronomy technique. They included the unusual blending
of jellies, foods from his childhood as well as binding, freezing,
carbonate processes. The vial of gin and tonic jelly is an
example of a dish served by Calombaris.
On the evening, Mijeong Lee's small concrete
tiles were used as tabletops for the vodka, wine and champagne
tables. Calombaris was placed in the foyer, where he created
a number of dishes that were sampled at his workstation. In addition,
German lighting fixture company, Zumtobel Staff, furnished
a sample of their Active Light wall system. From this LED fixture
an illumination of red, green and blue was preprogramed
to give multiple blends of colour throughout the evening. |
